Visa Olympics // Go World

For the second iteration of the Visa Olympics Go World campaign, we put an emphasis on the athlete support hat was harnessed from around the globe.

Every two years, for 17 days, the world comes together to watch, hope - and with Visa - cheer as one. Just as much as celebrating the inspiring stories of the athletes, we wanted to celebrate the connection that fans have to the Olympics, by collecting support from around the globe.

We kicked off the games with an opening ceremonies spot that invited the world to submit their cheers, then honored Olympic legends and some of the most crowd-pleasing moments that happened at past games. And finally, as history was made, we created real time congratulatory spots – using footage that was captured of the athlete’s wins just minutes before, and dropping them into the spots before they aired.

We congratulated Michael Phelps in real-time, just one commercial break after his record setting win.

And honored some of the most inspiring athletes who blazed trails for those who followed.

An interactive platform housed messages of hope, encouragement, and cheers from thousands of people around the world.

And live video chats connected people with fan favourites throughout the games.
